My politics is for exploited and deprived people: PM

Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina said, My politics is for the exploited and deprived people. I’ll feel myself successful when we’ll be able to build their fate, She said while addressing a reception accorded to her by the ruling Awami League at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday,

Bangladesh Awami League arranged the rally to accord a mass reception to her in recognition of her role in achieving remarkable development and achievements in different fields of the country.

Sheikh Hasina said, I need no reception. I am the servant of people. I have dedicated this reception to the people of Bangladesh. I have come to work for people. How much the people are getting that is the matter of consideration to me. Beyond this I have no demand.

Prime Minister said those who had come to power in the past were busy making their own fortunes after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975. The voting right of people was also snatched after the 15th August 1975

“It’s we who restored democracy and we introduced transparent ballot box and voters roll with photographs. Democracy is at the hands of the people,” said Sheikh Hasina, also president of the Awami League.

She allegorically said the anti-Awami League elements should not try to stop the ‘boat’, the election symbol of the incumbents.

“Why do you want to stop the boat? Don’t you need to board a boat when there is the month of Shrabon (when Bangladesh experiences rainfall and flooding)?” she told the grand rally.

Sheikh Hasina also claimed that her government managed to retain democracy through the 2014 elections, boycotted by the BNP and other opposition parties. “Some tried to overthrow a democratic government in 2015,” she added.

The prime minister gave a long list of her government’s attainments and expressed determination to observe the country’s golden jubilee in 2021 and 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2020.

his mass reception is being accorded to Sheikh Hasina for her role in different arena such as for graduating the country from least developed country to developing country, successful launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 in the space, for attaining D litt degree from Kazi Nazrul Islam University of Asansol, receiving Global Women’s Leadership Award from Sydney, Australia, for receiving different international award including Champion of the Earth and for her success in different development and achievement of the country.
