Stop using English letters for Bangla SMS: BTRC

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed mobile phone operators not to send Bangla messages in the English alphabet.

BTRC has sent notice to mobile phone operators to this effect.

The notice says, Bangla SMS or mobile messages must be sent in Bangla letters to subscribers.

Besides, it also ordered the mobile operators to stop sending commercial or promotional messages or interactive voice responses or IVRs to the subscribers between 12am and 6am, and in times of religious activities.

Operators were also ordered to inform the subscribers about the DND (Do Not Disturb) policy through SMS in the next 10 workdays.
