Khaleda Zia denies to appear at court in jail
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday denies to appear at the makeshift court set up inside an abandoned jail house where she has been kept since February, according to prosecution. A special court set up at the old Dhaka central jail on Nazimuddin Roady) to hold a hearing on the petition filed for extending bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.

Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 fixed the day after the prosecution informed the court about Khaleda Zia’s unwillingness to appear before it. According to the judge, the court will hold a hearing tomorrow (Thursday) on whether it should continue its proceedings in absence of Khaleda Zia in Zia Charaitable Trust graft case.
Earlier on September 5, appearing before the same court, Khaleda Zia said she won’t appear before the court anymore.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is serving her 5-year jail sentence in Zia Orphanage Trust case in old central jail in Dhaka but as per the order of the Law Ministry, a makeshift court was set up in the prison to conduct the trial of Zia Charitable Trust graft case against her.
