New 15-party Alliance formed
An Islamic alliance has been formed comprising of 15 Islamic organizations to support the ruling 14-party grand alliance.
The chairperson of the newly formed ‘Islamic Democratic Alliance’ is Alhajj Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, the chairman of Bangladesh Islami Oikkya Jote, while MA Awal, former secretary general of Bangladesh Tariqat Federation, is the co-chairperson of the alliance and Advocate Mohammad Nurul Islam Khan, chairman of Gonotrantik Islamic Movement, is the secretary general.

The alliance has been formed with an aim to protect and ensure development activities of the ruling 14-party alliance, said Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury while speaking at a press conference at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday.
They also pledged to strengthen the grand alliance from the inside and out.
Speaking at the press conference, MA Awal said the alliance will hold a mass-rally on the first week of October to share its future plans with the public.
Meanwhile, only Tariqat Federation is the registered political party while the others are not.
Asked about this, the chairperson said they have applied to the EC and are hopeful to get the registration before elections.
