PM to receive two international awards in New York
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will receive two awards for her humanitarian roles in the Rohingya response from separate organisations during the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York.
The Inter Press Service News Agency will give her ‘International Achievement Award’ while non-profit Global Hope Coalition’s Board of Directors would give her ‘2018 Special Recognition for Outstanding Leadership award,” said Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at a press briefing on Thursday.
The minister said the premier will be honored for her exemplary humanitarian response to persecuted Rohingyas who fled their country following a military crackdown in August last year.
Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka on Friday morning while a 50-member official delegation will accompany her along with a 200-member business delegation
