The rest two demands are: reconstitution of the current Election Commission and dissolution of the 10th parliament by the time frame.

Speaking at the rally, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir extended his party’s all-out support to the demand for ensuring people’s right to elect their representatives through a fair election.

“The government must have to resign by dissolving the current parliament. Let’s come forward to build a greater national unity to restore democracy in the country through holding fair national polls,” Fakhrul said.

The Jatiya Oikya Prokriya (National unity process) convened by Gono Forum President Kamal Hossain, organised the rally at Mahanagar Natya Mancha.

Addressing the rally, BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed demanded non-party election-time government and reconstitution of the current Election Commission to ensure people’s right to elect their representatives through a fair election.

Some leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, especially Khelafat Majlish and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam attended the meeting that began around 3:00pm.

Kamal Hossain himself went to the meeting venue minutes before 3:00pm, as his party’s supporters arrived there with small processions.
