Oikyafront unveils its 14-point electoral manifesto

Jatiya Oikyafront has unveiled its 14-point electoral manifesto with various promises, including ensuring the balance between the power of the President and the Prime Minister, and introducing upper house in Parliament.

Dr Kamal Hossain, Chief of Jatiya Oikyafront unveiled the election manifesto in a press briefing at a city hotel on Monday morning.

    In its manifesto, Jatiya Oikyafront promised to ensure democracy so that one-party rule cannot take root in the country. “National unity, not the political vengeance, is our goal,” Dr Kamal said while announcing the manifesto.

    There will be no age limit for government jobs except those of police and the armed forces, he said.

    The Oikyafront also promised to scrap the Digital Security Act.

    The alliance pledged to carry out investigations into the corruption incidents that took place under the current government and will bring those responsible for graft to justice.

    They will also take immediate steps to resolve the water-sharing disputes of the common rivers, including Teesta, and Rohingya-related issues and other bilateral problems through discussions, said Dr Kamal.

    He also pledged that Oikyafront will form a ministry for minorities and stop repression on them if it comes to power.

    BNP Secretary General and Jatiya Oikyafront leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rob, Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) president Bangabir Kader Siddique, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, convener of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Gono Forum’s executive president Subrata Chowdhury, General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Mantu and Presidium Member Reza Kibria were present at that time.
