Our government will work for all : Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said her government will work for all of the country’s people irrespective of political affiliations.

Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Awami League, came up with the remarks while addressing a grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan celebrating the party’s massive victory in the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30 last year.

Mentioning that the general people casted their votes spontaneously the premier thanked them for electing her party in the election.

Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude to the law enforcement agencies for ensuring the atmosphere for a fair election, and the Election Commission for presenting free election.

“Thank you all—those who voted for us and those who didn’t,” she said.

“But, we will work for everyone, as we have got the opportunity to form government, to serve people,” added the Awami League president at the grand rally held at Suhrawardy Udyan to celebrate her party’s landslide victory in the 11th national elections.

Formalities of the rally started at 2:30pm Saturday (Jan 19).

Sheikh Hasina joined the rally flanked by her party leaders around 3pm.

Earlier the cultural programme began at 12pm while popular singers Fahmida Nabi, Salma and folk band Joler Gaan performed.

It is mentionable that, Awami League bagged 259 seats, HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party secured 20 seats while BNP got just five seats in national polls.

Workers Party bagged three seats while Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal two seats, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh two seats and Tariqat Federation one seat.
